Wird Daniele Gatti der nächste Chefdirigent an der Oper in Rom? Das zumindest behauptet die Zeitung ‘Il Corriere della Sera’. Gatti wird im November in der italienischen Hauptstadt Wagners ‘Tristan und Isolde’ dirigieren. Dann könnte ihm ein Angebot unterbreitet werden, meinte die Zeitung. Der Italiener wird im Herbst auch neuer Musikdirektor des ‘Concertgebouw Orkest’ in Amsterdam.
Fresno Grand Opera key employees were apparently involved in financial irregularities, conflicts of interest and improper corporate governance. That came out of an internal report which was delivered by the company’s new board to the state attorney general’s office. The report is speaking of falsification of tax forms, failure to disclose an outside business relationship with a for-profit company owned by key employees, and improper accounting methods misrepresenting the organization’s true financial health.
Turkish President Erdogan announced Saturday that Europe’s largest opera house will be built in Istanbul’s Taksim. The opera house will replace the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM), Turkey’s first opera house and multi-purpose cultural center, built in the 1960s.

Eine zerstreute Musikerin hatte in einer Münchner S-Bahn ihre Geige im Wert von über 100.000 Euro vergessen. Ein Mann wurde von einer Sicherheitskamera gefilmt, als er das Instrument an sich nahm. Nach der Veröffentlichung von Fahndungsbildern am vergangenen Freitag gingen über 100 Hinweise aus der Bevölkerung bei der Polizei ein. Der Gesuchte, meldete sich anschließend selbst bei der Polizei und übergab den Beamten das Instrument. Nun muss er sich wegen Diebstahls beziehungsweise Unterschlagung strafrechtlich verantworten.
The reorganization plan defined by Commissioner Charles Fuortes for the Arena in Verona has been approved by a large majority of the members of orchestra, ballet as well as technical and administrative entities. This allows the access to the procedure for obtaining the funding provided by the law Bray for operatic and symphonic foundations in crisis.
