Enrique Mazzola was announced yesterday as Principal Guest Conductor at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. This new position, covering an initial four year term will bring the Italian conductor to conduct a wide range of repertoire including performances next season of Offenbach’s Contes d’Hoffmann. JoAnn Falletta, 64, announced yesterday that she will end her tenure with the Virginia Symphony in June 2020. Falletta took the over this job in Norfolk in 1991, plans to lead the symphony through its centennial in 2020. Falletta also serves as music director for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Academy of Ancient Music (AAM) has appointed principal player Bojan Cicic as Leader of the orchestra. Cicic says: “Over the past five years in which I have worked as a principal player, the orchestra has become very much like a family. I believe we have formed friendships that will last a lifetime.
