Im aktuellen Haushaltsentwurf der Bonner Stadt-Verwaltung wird vorgeschlagen, direkt nach dem Beethoven-Jubiläum 2020 die Mittel für die Beethovenpflege um 30 Prozent von 2,3 Mio auf 1,5 Mio Euro zu kürzen. Davon wäre besonders das Beethovenfest betroffen, das ein Viertel des zuletzt gezahlten städtischen Zuschusses verlieren würde (Kürzung von 1,6 Mio auf 1,2 Mio Euro), sagen die ‘Bürger für Beethoven’. No First Prize has been awarded at this year’s Evgeny Svetlanov International Conducting Competition in Paris. 39 year-old Dmitry Filatov, from Russia and Fuad Ibrahimov, 36, from Azerbaijan, won Second Prize. The Third Prize has also not been awarded. Haoran Li, 32, from China received the Prize of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France as well as the Audience Award.

Ganz knapp vor dem Konzert, das sie am Donnerstag zusammen mit dem brasilianischen Neojiba in Mailand geben sollte, meldete sich Martha Argerich krank. Für die Organisatoren, das Festival MiTo, war es unmöglich auf die Schnelle Ersatz zu finden. Doch der Dirigent des Orchesters, Ricardo Castro, hatte eine Lösung: er übernahm kurzerhand selber den Solopart im Klavierkonzert von Robert Schumann. Er bekam vom Mailänder Publikum tosenden Applaus.

Italian conductor Claudio Scimone died yesterday in his hometown Padua, Italy, where he was born in 1934. Scimone studied conducting with Dmitri Mitropoulos and Franco Ferrara.  He founded the chamber orchestra I Solisti Veneti, an ensemble he toured with internationally and with which he made most of his recordings.
