Die für den Monat Mai geplanten Schwetzinger Festspiele werden wegen COVID-19 in den Herbst verschoben, teilte der Veranstalter mit. Für Oktober sind 21 Veranstaltungen geplant, darunter die Residenzen des Bratschisten Nils Mönkemeyer und der Capella de la Torre. Einige der geplanten Konzerte soll dennoch im Mai stattfinden, allerdings ohne Publikum und nur in Form von Radiokonzerten.

The London Symphony has announced 61-year-old British conductor Antonio Pappano as Chief Conductor, officially starting from the 2024/25 season. Pappano will be Chief Conductor Designate from September 2023. His appointment will begin just months after he is to step down from as Music Director at the Royal Opera House in London, in July 2024. In 2005 he became music director of the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. At the LSO, Pappano is the successor of Simon Rattle.

Yesterday, artists affected by the theatre, opera and concert bans in Bavaria, especially at the Bavarian State Opera and Gasteig, on behalf of the supporters of the initiative Aufstehen für die Kunst (Standing Up for the Arts), filed an urgent application with the Bavarian Administrative Court against the blanket ban on concerts and performances in the 12th Bavarian Infection Protection Measures Ordinance (12.
