It happens again and again. This time it occurred in Toronto, Canada. Last Friday, a violinist forgot to take his 263-year-old violin from the TTC Subway. The violin is an instrument made in 1757 by the Florentine violin maker Lorenzo-Carcassi.
The Irish-born conductor and cellist Brendan Townsend, 52, died on 18 December in Houston, the Texas A&M International University president said. Townsend was assistant professor of Music at TAMIU and Music Director of the Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra since 14 years.
Der Schweizer Andreas Reize wird neuer Leiter des Thomanerchores Leipzig. Der 45-Jährige ist in einer Sondersitzung des Leipziger Stadtrates einstimmig gewählt worden. Er erhielt 49 von 49 abgegebenen Stimmen. Reize soll im September 2021 auf Thomaskantor Gotthold Schwarz folgen, der Ende Juni 2021 aus dem Amt scheidet.
