The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra has announced a four-year contract extension for its current Music Director, French conductor Stéphane Denève, 49. The extended contract runs through the end of the SLSO’s 2025/2026 season, which will be Denève’s seventh as Music Director.

Denève’s initial three-year contract began with the 2019/2020 season following one season as Music Director Designate.

Stéphane Denève is also Music Director of the Brussels Philharmonic, and recently concluded his six-year tenure as Principal Guest Conductor of The Philadelphia Orchestra. He is also Director of the Brussels Philharmonic’s Centre for Future Orchestral Repertoire (CffOR). He previously served as Chief Conductor of Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra (SWR) and Music Director of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
