Austrian-Uruguayan conductor Carlos Kalmar, 65, currently the principal conductor for the Cleveland Institute of Music, has been accused of “inappropriate behavior.” Carlos Kalmar, who served as music director of the Oregon Symphony for 18 years, has been in the Cleveland position since 2021 (he’s also the institute’s director of orchestral studies). Cellist Aleksandr Khramouchin died May 13, following a septic shock. Aleksandr Khramoushin was born in 1979 in Minsk into a family of musicians. In 1992 he moved to Belgium and studied at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp with Hans Mannes.
