The Toronto Symphony Orchestra announced an operating surplus of $830.000 for 2015/16 and nearly $5M in debt reduction, bringing it from $11.85M to $6.86M. This surplus was made possible by the injection of $4.9M into the operating budget by the orchestra’s Foundation. Without this money, the result would have been a serious deficit.

No 1st Prize was attributed in the Voice Competition of the Concours de Genève in Switzerland. Second Prize, Audience Prize, Young Audience Prize, Students Prize and Yvonne Sigg Prize went to German tenor David Fischer. Marina Viotti (Switzerland) and Seung-Jick Kim (South Korea) shared Third Prize ex æquo. Marina Viotti was also awarded the Cercle du Grand Théâtre Prize.
