Finnish conductor Osmo Väsnä, 65, announced today that he will conclude his tenure as Music Director of the Minnesota Orchestra in August 2022. The 2021-22 season, his final as music director, will mark his 19th year at the helm of the Minnesota Orchestra. Beyond 2022, Vänskä and the Minnesota Orchestra will maintain their musical relationship, with him returning for ongoing concert engagements. Read More →

The London based Philharmonia Orchestra has announced that Esa-Pekka Salonen will end his tenure as principal conductor and artistic advisor at the end of the 2020-21 season. Italian conductor Daniele Gatti is the new musical director of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. The contract is starting ad hoc and runs for three years, until 31 December 2021, the press release says. The decision to hire Gatti was taken by superintendent Carlo Fuortes together with the mayor of Rome, Virginia Raggi, who is the president of Fondazione Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. According to Raggi, Gatti is one of the most important conductors in the world and he will raise the prestige of the opera house. Read More →

43 year old Danish violinist and conductor Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider will assume the position of Music Director of Orchestre national de Lyon in September 2020 for an initial contract of four years.
