The Queen Sonja International Music Competition in Oslo, Norway, has announced the winners of their 2019 edition. Baritone Sergey Kaydalov (27), a young talent from Russia, won First Prize. Kaydalov was born in 1992, in Amursk, Russia. He is currently 27 years old. Kaydalov graduated from the Hvorostovsky Musical College (Prokopyevsk, 2014) and Saint-Petersburg Herzen University (Institute of Art) in 2018. Der der sexuellen Belästigung beschuldigte Placido Domingo, der die gegen ihn gerichteten Vorwürfe nie komplett abgestritten, sondern im Lichte der heute veränderten Sitten nur relativiert hat, wurde am Sonntag bei einer konzertanten Aufführung von Verdis Luisa Miller in Salzburg mit Standing Ovations gefeiert. Beobachtern zufolge ging es dabei eher um eine Sympathiekundgebung für den Mann als um Applaus für den ohnehin nicht mehr besonders guten Sänger.

British conductor Daniel Harding, 43, told the Spanish newspaper El Pais that he plans a one year sabbatical as conductor to become a commercial pilot. “I have recently been awarded my commercial pilot’s licence, and in the Spring of this year I will join Air France as a co-pilot  … so for the 2020-21 season I will take a sabbatical from conducting to dedicate myself 100% to flying, » he said in the interview.
