Jozef Nowakowski (1800-1865), ein Freund von Chopin, hat mit seinem fast 40 Minuten langen Klavierquintett ein Werk komponiert, das dem Klavier eine wichtige Rolle gibt. Dennoch ist es kein Klavierkonzert mit vier Streichern, wie man das in der vorliegenden Einspielung glauben könnte, in der das Klavier derart dominiert, dass die Streicher daneben verblassen. Da wurden Nelson Goerner und seine Kollegen besser bedient (siehe unten).
Dieses tontechnische Problem stellt sich im Duo für Violine und Klavier nicht, das von Gebska und Skrobinski vital und kantabel gespielt wird.
Chopins Präludium op. 28/4 hat Jerzy Cembrzynski für Englischhorn, Gitarre und Streicher arrangiert. Und das klingt ungewöhnlich, aber nicht schlecht und wird auch sehr engagiert und auf hohem Niveau gespielt.
With his Piano Quintet Jozef Nowakowski (1800-1865), a friend of Chopin, composed a work which is almost 40 minutes long and gives the piano an important role. Yet it is not a piano concerto with four strings, as one might think in the present recording, in which the piano dominates to such an extent that the strings pale beside it. Nelson Goerner and his colleagues were better served there (see below).
This tonal problem does not arise in the Duo for Violin and Piano, which is played by Gebska and Skrobinski in a vital and cantabile manner.
Jerzy Cembrzynski has arranged Chopin’s Prelude op. 28/4 for English horn, guitar and strings. That’s quite unusual, but not bad, the positive impression coming also from the committed and flawless performance.
