Christian Zacharias und das Orchestre National d’Auvergne haben für diese Aufführung eines der 53 Klavierkonzerte von Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach ausgewählt, und zwar das 1748 in Potsdam entstandene Klavierkonzert d­Moll Wq  23. Es enthält eine leidenschaftliche Musik mit einem charakteristischen Ausdruckswillen und ist somit dem Sturm und Drang zuzurechnen. Der erste Satz wird dramatisch formuliert, der zweite entfaltet sich in Ruhe und Entspanntheit, ohne die dunkleren Töne zu unterschlagen, die es darin gibt. Das Klavier von Christian Zacharias fügt sich bestens in das sehr kohärente Streicherklangbild des Orchestre National d’Auvergne ein, in dem selbst die kleinsten Nuancen scharf konturiert bleiben. Der rhythmische dritte Satz wird sehr vital gespielt und bekommt in dem  absolut klaren Klangbild eine vorbildliche Interpretation. Als Zugabe spielt Zacharias dann noch das Rondo Nr. 2.

For this performance Christian Zacharias and the Orchestre National d’Auvergne have chosen one of the 53 piano concertos by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, namely the Piano Concerto in D Minor Wq 23, written in Potsdam in 1748. It contains passionate music with a characteristic expressivity and can thus be attributed to Sturm und Drang. The first movement is dramatically formulated, the second is calm and relaxed, without suppressing the darker tones that are present in it. The piano of Christian Zacharias fits into a very coherent string sound of the Orchestre National d’Auvergne in which even the smallest nuances remain sharply contoured. The rhythmic third movement is played with great vitality and gets an exemplary interpretation with an absolutely clear sound. As encore Zacharias plays the Rondo No. 2.
