The Philadelphia Orchestra announced the continuation of their partnership with Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin through 2030, with the new title of Music and Artistic Director.

Currently in his 11th season as Music Director, the extension puts the 47-year-old Canadian on a par with the orchestra’s most influential and longstanding artistic leaders, Leopold Stokowski and Eugene Ormandy.

Of the extension to his role, Yannick said, “To have travelled this most amazing musical journey with The Philadelphia Orchestra through changing times and a changing musical world has been pure joy. Through the most complex challenges, to the creative process of realizing new ideas, to the heights of music-making with this magnificent ensemble, I am both honoured and so happy to continue this true collaboration, with the gift of a long horizon.”

Nézet-Séguin continues his position in Philadelphia alongside his other roles as Music Director at the Metropolitan Opera, and Music Director and Principal Conductor of Montreal’s Orchestre Métropolitain.
