The XXth International Piano Competition of Santander will take place from July 24th to August 5th in the Cantabrian capital. On Sunday July 24th at 8.30 p.m., in the Sala Argenta of the Palacio de Festivales de Cantabria, the Santander International Piano Competition commemorates its 50th anniversary with a recital by Josep Colom, an exceptional international pianist who won the First Prize of the Competition twice: in the inaugural edition of 1972 and in 1978.
After this recital, the protagonists will be twenty young pianists of sixteen nationalities who were selected from among the 303 registrations received. The First Phase of the Competition will be held from July 25. From July 29, the Semifinal will follow with twelve of them, and will feature a performance by the Casals Quartet.
Finally, the Final on August 3 and 4, within the framework of the 71st Santander International Festival, will feature the last six selected pianists, who, accompanied by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Radiotelevisión Española under the baton of the resident maestro Pablo González, will play a great romantic or modern concerto.
