Bei dieser Aufnahme wird einem die Sinnhaftigkeit des Booklets und des mitgelieferten Textes wieder einmal deutlich bewusst. Ohne diese Hilfe wüssten wir nicht, worum es in den beiden ansprechenden Kompositionen des 1975 geborenen britischen Komponisten Francis Pott überhaupt geht.

Francis Potts Musik steht in der Tradition zeitgenössischer britischer Chormusik und pflegt eine reiche chromatische Klangsprache, die sich gegen Satzende wiederholt in wunderbaren Harmonien auflöst.

Das Vokalensemble Commotio wird seinem Namen vollauf gerecht und bewegt mit seiner Interpretation. Leider ist die diffuse Aufnahme der Musik nicht zuträglich, die eine gepflegtere, vor allem transparentere Aufnahme verdient hätte.

With this recording, one becomes aware of the meaningfulness of the booklet and the accompanying text. Without this help we would not know what the two appealing compositions by the British composer Francis Pott, born in 1975, are all about.
Francis Pott’s music stands in the tradition of contemporary British choral music and cultivates a rich chromatic tonal language that repeatedly dissolves into wonderful harmonies towards the end of the movements.
The vocal ensemble Commotio lives up to its name, and its interpretations are indeed moving. Unfortunately, the recording is not favourable, and Pott’s music would have deserved a more refined and above all more transparent sound.
