Wenn ‘Invitation à la Danse’ auch nur reine lose Zusammenstellung von Werken mit Tanzcharakter ist, so muss man die pianistische Leistung von Vardan Mamikonian hervorheben. Gerade bei einem solchen Programm ist es schwierig, interessante Interpretationen mit populären Stücken niveauvoll zu kombinieren und zu präsentieren. Und das gelingt Mamikonian mehr als überzeugend.
Sein Spiel ist unaufdringlich aber zwingend, und der Blick ist immer sehr präzise auf das Werk gerichtet, so dass der Pianist sehr schnell auf den Punkt kommt und mit spielerischer Leichtigkeit zwischen den Klangwelten eines Bach, Debussy, Chopin, Liszt, Arno Babajanian und Khachaturian wechseln kann.
Die klanglich sehr gelungene Aufnahme macht das Hören zum Genuss während sich Vardan Mamikonian dem Hörer als ein ebenso intelligenter wie technisch makelloser Interpret und Pianist präsentiert.
Even though ‘Invitation à la Danse’ is only a loose compilation of works with a dance character, Vardan Mamikonian’s pianistic performance must be emphasized. Especially with a program like this, it is difficult to combine and present interesting interpretations with popular pieces in a sophisticated way. And Mamikonian succeeds more than convincingly.
His playing is unobtrusive but convincing, and his focus is always very precise, so that the pianist gets to the point very quickly and can switch between the sound worlds of Bach, Debussy, Chopin, Liszt, Arno Babajanian and Khachaturian with playful ease.
The recording has a very successful sound and makes listening a pleasure, while Vardan Mamikonian presents himself to the listener as an intelligent, accomplished and technically flawless interpreter and pianist.
