St David’s Hall, Cardiff
Two of Wales’ best-known cultural venues – St David’s Hall and the New Theatre – are under threat as part of a huge cuts programme proposed by Cardiff council. This has been reported by Wales Online. Council officials say that, while making savings of £50m this year, they can no longer afford to subsidise the two buildings. St David’s Hall is Cardif’s major venue for classical concerts and the residence of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
