Ukrainian violinist Dmytro Udovychenko (*1999) has won this year’s the Queen Elisabeth Competition. The International Queen Elisabeth Grand Prize – Queen Mathilde Prize receives EUR 25.000 and numerous concerts in Belgium and abroad. Dmytro Udovychenko will also have the honour to play the ‘Huggins’ 1708 Stradivarius for four years, on loan by the Nippon Music Foundation.
Dmytro Udovychenko studied at the Kharkiv Specialized Music Boarding School with Ludmila Varenina, then at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen with Boris Garlitsky. He perfected his skills in master classes with Ana Chumachenco, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Stephan Picard and Leonidas Kavakos. In 2022 he joined Christian Tetzlaff’s class at the Kronberg Academy. Dmytro Udovychenko has won the Heifetz Competition in Vilnius, the Odessa Competition and the Grand Prix of the Andrea Postacchini Competition in Fermo. In 2018, he won the Second Prize, the Audience Prize and the Internet Community Prize at the Josef Joachim Competition in Hannover. Recently, he was awarded Third Prize at the Jean Sibelius Competition and First Prize at the Singapore and Montreal Competitions. Musikleben.
