Ukrainian conductor Andriy Yurkevych has been named Music Director of the State Opera in Prague, part of the National Theatre. Andriy Yurkevych, resident conductor of the Lviv National Opera, who has lived in Italy for two decades, already conducted Verdi’s Traviata in Prague this year. He replaces Karl-Heinz Steffens. He is also Music Director at the Polish National Opera in Warsaw, Teatr Wielki. Previously he served as Music Director of the National Theatre in Odessa and as General Music Conductor at the National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Republic of Moldova in Chisinau.
The Prague National Theatre informs also that Conductor Robert Jindra starts working at the National Theater as Musical Director of the opera. He replaces Jaroslav Kyzlink. His arrival, was announced a long time ago. Jindra was born in Prague in 1977. After his graduation from Prague Conservatory of classical singing and conducting, he has started the permanent collaboration with National Theatre in Prague (2001). During the season 2013/14 he was already Musical director of National Theatre in Prague.
From 2010 to 2014 Robert Jindra was Music Director of National Moravian-Silesian theatre in Ostrava. From the 2021/22 season he has been chief conductor of State Philharmonic of Košice.
