Julia Lezhneva

The Vatican-sponsored Premio Internazionale Giuseppe Sciacca 2016 has distinguished two musicians, young Russian soprano Julia Lezhneva and young British pianist Ethan David Loch. The Award ceremony will take place tomorrow, 12 November, at the Aula Magna della Pontificia Università Urbaniana, Città del Vaticano.

The Award which is given in different categories, is named after the architecture student Giuseppe Sciacca (1960-1986) who died young but lived long enough to be proposed as an exemplary role model to the new generations. He died aged 26, following an accident when his parachute failed to open during celebrations in honour of the Blessed Virgin of Divine Love in Rome.

Ethan David Loch is a young 10-years old blind British pianist known for a stunning development on the piano, despite his blindness. Julia Lezhneva (*1989) is a Russian soprano performing across Europe, America and Asia.
