Ilker Arcayürek

According to the jury decision of the 10th International Art Song Competition Stuttgart 2016, Ilker Arcayürek (tenor) & Fiona Pollak (piano) were awarded First Prize. Second prize went to Stuart Jackson (tenor) & Jocelyn Freeman (piano), while Samuel Hasselhorn (baritone) & Renate Rohlfing (piano) won Third Prize.

Ilker Arcayürek was born in 1984 in Istanbul and grew up in Vienna. After being a soloist with the Mozart Boys Choir he continued his studies with the tenor Sead Buljubasic and sang with the Arnold Schönberg Choir. He was a member of the International Opera Studio Zürich and of the Verbier Festival Academy, and did master classes with Thomas Quasthoff, Ileana Cotrubas, Sir Thomas Allen and Alfred Brendel. 2015 he was finalist in BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition and is currently a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist. Since the season 2015/16 Ilker is a soloist of Staatstheater Nürnberg.
