The fascist leader in the White House on Thursday signed an executive order aiming to slash public subsidies to the broadcasters PBS and NPR. The order instructs the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and other federal agencies “to cease Federal funding for NPR and PBS. The policy is clear: Trump eradicates everything which is not 100% aligned with his dictatorial views. The White House, in a social media posting announcing the signing, said the outlets “receive millions from taxpayers to spread radical, woke propaganda disguised as ‘news.’”
Since taking office, Trump has cut off hundreds of millions of dollars in funding to artists, libraries, museums, theaters and others. Trump has also pushed to withhold federal research and education funds from universities. In doing so, he eliminates education that would allow critical free-thinking, which is a threat to the power of his administration. Trump gags America’s society.
Several member radios of those organizations are members of the European Broadcasting Union EBU and some of them regularly offer concert recordings from American orchestras in the popular Euroradio series. Trumps executive order will thus also silence American orchestras in the worldwide EBU network.
