British composer Thomas Adès (*1971) has won the eleventh edition of the Roche Commissions and will write a new Violin Concerto for Anne-Sophie Mutter. Roche Commissions is a collaboration between Roche, the Lucerne Festival and the Lucerne Festival Academy.

The new concerto will be premiered at Lucerne Festival in Summer 2022.

In parallel, the Roche Young Commissions which are traditionally given to two talented young composers, have also been announced. Hovik Sardaryan and David Moliner have been selected to develop and rehearse their new works in collaboration with the Lucerne Festival’s Academy Artistic Director, Wolfgang Rihm, and musicians from the Academy Network. They will unveil their works at the world premiere during the 2023 Summer Festival.
