Cultural players in the Pays-de-la-Loire region of France are facing unprecedented budget cuts. The president of the regional council, Christelle Morançais, plans to cut the cultural budget by more than 70% and achieve savings of 100 million euros.
Morançais, the cultural destroyer, intends to completely cut off subsidies to festivals, theaters, museums, opera houses, authors’ houses, art centers, audio-visual productions and artists from 2025.
