The Musicarium in Joinville, the largest city in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina and one of the centers of German colonization in this state, plans an international orchestra and concert hall.
By 2030, the project conceived by businessman Ernesto Heinzelmann and conductor Sergio Ogawa envisages the full operation of a philharmonic orchestra inside an international concert hall.
Musicarium is an educational and cultural center founded in 2017, in Joinville, which aims to offer early childhood musicalization and musical initiation to children and young people through a « humanistic and excellent » musical education. In the first selection, 700 candidates applied for 100 places, 85% of whom were children from the public school system.
The project promises to « bring the world’s best acoustics and infrastructure for the development of musicians, high-performance orchestras and the staging of international concerts and events ».

The cultural complex will consist of two interconnected buildings: the Music Academy, with around 50 classrooms, designed to cater for up to 500 students, and a concert hall with capacity for around 700 spectators.
The architecture is by Metroquadrado Arquitetura and the acoustic design is by Nagata Acoustics, an international reference company for projects such as the Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles), the Elbphilharmonie (Hamburg) and the Philharmonie de Paris.
