Die Welt des Films hat schon viele sensationelle Musikstücke hervorgebracht. Und es sind nicht immer die bekanntesten Filme, die die besten Kompositionen erhalten haben. Der Beweis darf ist diese CD mit vielen bekannte und beliebten Melodien, aber auch Kompositionen aus weniger bekannten Filmen.
Alexandre Tharaud hat eine Vorliebe für ruhige, melodische Themen, die mehrheitlich die beiden CDs füllen, die erste mit Orchester, die zweite meistens solo, in einigen Fällen auch mit Begleitung. Tharaud spielt nicht nur im französischen Genre, dem wir hier oft begegnen, mit Eleganz, Leichtigkeit, sehr atmosphärisch und geschmackvoll, mit hörbarer Liebe zu dem, was er uns anzubieten hat.
Eleganz und stilistische Raffinesse kennzeichnen auch die Begleitung durch das Orchestre dell Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia unter Antonio Pappano.
