Ted Huffman has been announced as General Director of the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence for a five-year term starting January 1, 2026.

Succeeding Pierre Audi, who passed away in May 2025, Ted Huffman will implement the program drawn up by the latter for the 2026 edition and, in part, for the 2027 edition. He will also initiate the artistic and strategic design of the 2028 and subsequent editions.

Ted Huffman, 48, is a regular at the Festival d’Aix, which he discovered when he took part in the Académie sessions in 2012. He has returned every year since, and has staged several remarkable and acclaimed productions,

Ted Huffman, a New York native, graduated from Yale University in Humanities and apprenticed at San Francisco’s Merola Opera Program. He has created original productions for the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, Theater an der Wien and Aldeburgh Festival, among others.
