Walter Vergnano, superintendent of Turin’s Teatro Regio, has resigned from his job after 19 years and more than a year ahead of the end of his contract. According to a statement, he is leaving for personal reasons. This resignation automatically ends the functions of Music Director Gianandrea Noseda and of Artistic Director Gaston Fournier-Facio. The responsible politicians want to name a new directorate within a week. Italian media speculate that the new superintendent could be Giancarlo Del Monaco.
