Na das ist ja mal eine Überraschung! Sieht man sich die Diskographie von Giancarlo Guerrero an, so limitiert sie sich quasi auf Aufnahmen mit dem Nashville Symphony und Musik amerikanischer Komponisten des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts. Die Diskographie des NFM Filharmonia aus Wroclaw beinhaltet hauptsächlich polnische Musik. Und nun, zum 75. Geburtstag des Orchesters, Brahms!

Guerrero lässt sein hervorragendes Orchester opulent aufspielen. Das ist Romantik in ihrem ganzen Reichtum, ihrer ganzen Vielfalt und Emotionalität. Da wechseln Wucht mit Lieblichkeit ab, Auftrumpfen mit Verhaltenheit, Antrieb mit Bremskraft, akustisches Slow Motion mit breitem, alles mitreißendem Fluss, grelle Farben mit dunklen Tönen: Brahms in seiner ganzen Dramatik! Besonders schön und bewegend ist der langsame Satz, zart und wunderbar lyrisch, dann, im weiteren Verlauf mit zunehmender Nachdenklichkeit.

Die Akademische Festouvertüre wird sehr fein differenziert vom eher zögernden Beginn über das feierliche Zwischenspiel bis zum humorvollen Schluss, in dem das Orchester aus Wroclaw noch einmal sein ganzes Können zeigen kann.

Now that’s a surprise. If you look at the discography of Giancarlo Guerrero, it is more or less limited to recordings with the Nashville Symphony and music by American composers of the 20th and 21st centuries. The discography of the NFM Filharmonia from Wroclaw includes mainly Polish music. And now, for the orchestra’s 75th birthday, Brahms!
Guerrero has his excellent orchestra perform opulently. This is romanticism in all its richness, diversity and emotionality. There is an alternation of force and sweetness, of showiness and restraint, of drive and braking power, of acoustic slow motion and a broad, all-engaging flow of glaring colors and dark tones: Brahms in all his drama!
The slow movement is especially beautiful and moving, tender and wonderfully lyrical, then, as it progresses with increasing thoughtfulness.
The Academic Festive Overture is very finely differentiated from the rather hesitant beginning through the solemn interlude to the humorous conclusion, in which the orchestra from Wroclaw can once again show all its skills.
