Slovak soprano Patricia Burda Janeckova died on Sunday, 1 October at the age of 25. Last year, she announced that she was battling a malignant. She lost that battle now, much too young.
Patricia Burda Janeckova was born in Germany to Slovak parents, grew up and lived in Ostrava, where she graduated in opera singing at the Janáček Conservatory. She has appeared at festivals in the Czech Republic and abroad, performed as a soloist with many Czech and Slovak symphony and chamber orchestras, and worked at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre.
This year she married actor Vlastimil Burda.
