Conductor Simon Rattle has urged the British government not to end the crucial tax relief regulation for orchestras. Speaking to the Observer this weekend, Rattle is calling on Westminsterpoliticians not to allow classical music and the wider arts to be sacrificed as a growing number of city and county councils face bankruptcy and decide to “defund” the arts.
