After having declared him guilty of embezzlement, Judge Olessya Mendeleyeva did not follow the prosecutor’s request for a prison sentence of six years. Instead Russian director and filmmaker Kirill Serebrennikov was sentenced to a three-year suspended prison term. The judge also imposed a ban on him from directing any cultural organization and a fine.
