Though he canceled concerts for this summer, Japanese conductor, 78, told the press in Tokyo, that he is still hoping to return to the podium and to « work hard ». He said, according to press reports: « People think I am not far from death, but I will try to the maximum to prevent me from dying. » He also spoke about the music festival he created in Japan 22 years ago. The Saito Kinen Festival in Matsumoto (central Japan) is now called Seiji Ozawa Festival.
