ICMA Young Artist of the Year Pablo Ferrandez was interviewed by ICMA Jury members Luis Sunen (Scherzo) and Guy Engels (Radio 100,7). They talked about his studies, his career, his repertoire and his cello.

Pablo, tell us about your first steps with the cello.
I started when I was 3. Because, well, my whole family are musicians. My father is a cellist. My mother invented a method called ‘El mago Diapason’ to teach children music…, it was the perfect environment. Read More →

Read More →

What a delightful, delicious and unforgettable evening with French libertine poetry, lasciviously recited by Alain Carré and, above all, a collection of frivolous songs performed by Dame Felicity Lott, winner of the ICMA Lifetime Achievement Award 2016. Read More →

Chinese pianist Zhu Xiao Mei* won an ICMA Special Award 2015 with her Bach recordings for Accentus Music**. ICMA Jury member Nicola Catto has made the following interview with her.

I read in your autobiography that “the search for a proper tempo is not confined to the world of music; one must seek it in life as well”. What does it mean?
The question is very intellectual, but I will answer in a simple way. It takes time to find the good tempo: if you play five years, you’ll find it. Johann Sebastian Bach: Messe in h-Moll BWV 232; Carolyn Sampson, Anke Vondung, Daniel Johannsen, Tobias Berndt, Gächinger Kantorei, Freiburger Barockorchester, Hans-Christoph Rademann; 2 CDs Carus 83.314; 02/2015 (50‘38/65’20) - Rezension von Guy Engels

Read More →
