Der erste Satz von Prokofievs Fünfter Symphonie ist wohl einer der schwierigsten symphonischen Sätze überhaupt, und allzu oft klingt er inkohärent und langweilig. Das ist auch in dieser Aufnahme unter Noseda der Fall. Der zweite gelingt ihm nicht viel besser, gestalterisch ist noch Luft nach oben, denn dieses Allegro marcato läuft zu glatt ab. Pure Langeweile gibt es dann im konzeptlos dirigierten Adagio. Auch der letzte Satz bleibt glatt und unstrukturiert. Vom Sarkasmus, den Kitajenko darin hörbar macht, ist nicht zu spüren.
Dies ist also nur eine Einspielung mehr auf dem Müllhaufen unbrauchbarer Fünfter Symphonien von Prokofiev.
The first movement of Prokofiev’s Fifth Symphony is probably one of the most difficult symphonic movements ever, and all too often it sounds incoherent and boring. That is also the case in this recording under Noseda. The second movement is not much better, there is still room for improvement since this Allegro marcato runs a bit too smoothly. There is pure boredom in the Adagio, conducted without concept. The last movement also remains smooth and unstructured. There is no sign of the sarcasm that Kitajenko makes audible in it.
So this is just one more recording on the tip of useless Fifth Symphonies by Prokofiev.
