Created in 2016 by cellist Jacob Shaw, the Scandinavian Cello School has been helping and promoting young cellists ever since. « To date we have helped over 30 cellists aged between 15 and 25 years old », Shaw says.

Highlights of the School’s activities have included coaching sessions at the Berlin Philharmonic concert hall, masterclass sessions in Denmark, Poland and Romania, three SCS cello camps which have included lessons, ensemble and seminars on career management, the loan of 2 cellos and facilitating 3 scholarships (for non SCS projects), outreach projects with SCS students at hospitals and an orphanage

Shaw: « All Scandinavian Cello School projects are free of tuition costs for accepted participants, with bursaries always available for travel/accommodation costs! In addition, SCS sponsors Pirastro have so far donated 14 full sets of Perpetual Soloist Strings and other accessories, whilst Leatherwood Rosin have donated numerous products for our students. »

The next SCS project is the 4th Cello Camp on the Costa del Sol from 5th 13th November 2017.

The camp is organised in collaboration with Project Music Management for 6 cellists (born before 2001). All students receive a minimum of 3 individual lessons plus workshops, ensemble and performance opportunities
