Russian pianist Andrey Gugnin, 28, is the winner of the 16th Gina Bachauer International Artists Piano Competition in Salt Lake City. Born in 1987, Gugnin, has been involved in music since the age of seven. He graduated the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory in 2010. He already won prizes at the Beethoven International Competition in Vienna 2013 and at the Svetislav Stančić Piano Competition in Zagreb 2011. His prize from Salt Lake City is a $40,000 cash award and comprises several concerts engagements.

The silver medal went to Chi Ho Han, 22 (Korea). Artem Yasynskyy, 25 (Ukraine) won bronze.
