Rossen Milanov

Bulgarian Rossen Milanov will give up his position as Music Director of the Symphony Orchestra of the Principality of Asturias (OSPA) in the summer 2019. The orchestra’s board decided to not renew his contract after the conductor himself proposed to end the collaboration. According to Spanish media reports, OSPA is not satisfied with the artistic results of Milanov’s work.

The OSPA’s Board also unanimously approved that the selection of the next Music Director will be similar to the one held in the 2011/2012 season, when Milanov was chosen. Spanish media also point out that it is a very attractive position, since the OSPA Music Director has one of the highest salaries in the Principality, earning even more than the President of the Government.

Currently, Milanov is the musical director of the Princeton Symphony Orchestra, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra.
