In 2020, John Anderson announced Neumz, an application containing virtually all the Gregorian chants sung by the Benedictine nuns of Jouques Abbey. Three years later, the American sound engineer launches a new project, Repertorium, a vast manuscript digitization project, this time in conjunction with Solesmes Abbey. Saint Peter’s Abbey of Solesmes is a Benedictine abbey in Solesmes in the Sarthe department of France.

The main goal is to digitize ancient manuscripts from the Solesmes archive for musicological study, recordings, and creating databases for medieval and classical works.

The project has two main focuses: musicology and sound processing. Although the musicological part is strongly focused on medieval and classical repertoire, the sound processing results build on these subjects to create tools applicable to all forms of acoustic music.
