French violinist Renaud Capuçon has been named Artistic Director of the festival Rencontres musicales d’Evian which takes place at La Grange au Lac, a building owned by the Danone group. The hall is now closed for seven months of work and will reopen in June 2023 for its 30th anniversary. Capuçon will then have the opportunity to use an enlarged stage accommodating larger orchestras. The first orchestra to play there will be the Berlin Philharmonic.
A native of Chambéry, Renaud Capuçon thus confirms his regional roots, as he is already artistic director of the Sommets musicaux de Gstaad and the Orchestre de chambre de Lausanne.
