An Orthodox rabbi whose nonprofit medical support organization was supposed to benefit from a fundraising concert on November 20 at Tel Aviv’s Charles Bronfman Auditorium, wanted to exclude female musicians. The concert was planned to feature performances by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and many top Israeli artists.

The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra subsequently said it would not perform at an event that “excludes women.” So did other artists, and in the end the concert was cancelled.
