French pianist Matthieu Acar passed away after an incurable cancer at the age of 34. An eclectic musician, whether as a soloist or a chamber musician, Matthieu Acar was constantly seeking to build bridges between eras and styles.

In 2014 he received the André Jolivet and Ricardo Vines prizes at the Orléans International Piano Competition. Also very attached to the transmission, Matthieu Acar taught at the Conservatory of Boulogne-Billancourt.

He founded the ensemble InSoliTus with the conductor Javier Gonzales Novales and the composer Nicolas Mondon. In Brittany he founded the Klasik festival, a festival of classical and contemporary music.
