American pianist and writer Jeremy Denk (43) is among the MacArthur Fellows 2013. The award recognizes « exceptionally creative individuals with a track record of achievement and the potential for even more significant contributions in the future. » Fellows will each receive a no-strings-attached stipend of $625,000 (increased from $500,000) paid out over five years. Denk was chosen because he is « engaging listeners and readers in a deeper appreciation of classical music through unmatched musical ability paired with an unusual eloquence with words.  »
