Alexander Pereira, the outgoing superintendent of the Teatro della Scala in Milan, has accepted the proposal to become the new superintendent of the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. Italian media report that the negotiations between the mayor Dario Nardella, president of the Fondazione del Maggio, and Pereira himself ended in a positive way.
Pereira succeeds Cristiano Chiarot, who has also left the theatre over controversies related to the new structures of the Florentine institution.
Pereira’s appointment must be formally expressed and defined at the next meeting of the board of directors of the foundation in May, scheduled for September 6.
