British conductor Jonathan Nott, has signed an very long contract extension as music director of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. He will lead this orchestra until 2026. Jonathan Nott will also head the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva from 2016 on.

The governors of the Sibelius Society have awarded the Sibelius Medal to the Estonian conductor Paavo Järvi. The medal will be presented to him in Paris by the Finnish Ambassador to France, Risto Piipponen, at the opening concert of the new season of the Orchestre de Paris on September 9, on which occasion the orchestra will perform Sibelius’s Symphony no. 5. In der Bibliothek des St.-Petersburger Musikkonservatoriums wurde bei Räumungsarbeiten ein kompletter Satz von Orchesterstimmen des ‘Chant funèbre’ (Klagelied) op. 5 von Igor Stravinsky gefunden. Das Werk wurde vom jungen Stravinsky 1908 als Erinnerung an seinen Lehrer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov geschrieben. Read More →
