Opéra Bastille, Paris

The ongoing strike at the Paris Opera will lead to cuts in the next season. Stéphane Lissner, the General Manager of the opera house, announced on France Info that three new productions will be cancelled next season to reduce the institution’s losses, which amount to more than 16 million euros since the beginning of the strike. Lissner also announced « fairly drastic savings within all departments », and the sharp reduction in « investments over the next 3 or 4 years ».

The executive committee of the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria has finally dismissed Swiss conductor Charles Dutoit (*1936) from a concert scheduled for March 13th. Der Bühnenumbau im NDR-Funkhaus in Hannover ist immer noch nicht beendet und der Saal wird auch im März noch nicht bespielbar sein. Die nach Sanierung für Januar vorgesehene Eröffnung musste erneut verschoben werden. Komplikationen beim Einbau der neuen Bühnenelemente führen dazu, dass sich die Arbeiten erneut verzögern, teilte der NDR mit, der alle Konzerttermine bis Mitte März 2020 ersatzlos absagte. Dazu gehören ein Klavierabend mit Igor Levit sowie Konzert der NDR Radiophilharmonie unter Simone Young und Andrew Manze.

Due to the international situation, the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg has postponed a performance by the China National Opera and Dance Drama Theatre initially scheduled for the 11 February. Ther performance will be re-scheduled « at a more suitable time when the audience will be able to attend the performance without experiencing personal anxiety », the Mariinsky says on its website.
