When Oslo’s Opera House was closed to the public last weekend, and instead rented out for a private wedding, the Norwegian media criticised this, while the management said, with the Opera House being in a financial crisis, every supplementary income was welcome. According to figures published in the Norwegian press, the Opera reported a deficit of NOK 67 million (€ 7,1 million) It  receives more than a half-billion kroner a year (€ 53 million) in state support. It currently has around 600 employees. Analysts say, that the pension costs and maintenance costs are a big part of the deficit.
