Alben mit Opernparaphrasen gibt es viele, doch dieses ist exzeptionell. Der italienische Pianist Ruben Micieli spielt diese Stücke so wie man es tun sollte, sehr opernhaft. Mit tollen dynamischen und farblichen Nuancen und einem wirklich rhetorischen Rubato liefert er packende Interpretationen. Im Begleittext heißt es, er habe jede Transkription nach dem Studium der Partituren von Bellini und Verdi musikalisch und strukturell angepasst. Das hat sich zweifellos gelohnt.
Micieli trifft die Stimmung der Opernszenen ausgezeichnet, jedes Stück ist überaus sensibel interpretiert, und der Pianist wechselt gekonnt und problemlos von einer Atmosphäre zur andern. Und mag alles noch so gut durchdacht und vorbereitet sein, in seinem auch technisch überragenden Spiel bleibt Micieli immer frei und spontan, direkt ansprechend und bewegend.
Although there are many albums of opera paraphrases, this one is exceptional. Italian pianist Ruben Micieli plays these pieces very operatically, as they should be played. With great dynamics, colorful nuances, and a truly rhetorical rubato, he delivers gripping interpretations. According to the accompanying text, he adapted each transcription musically and structurally after studying the scores of Bellini and Verdi. This has undoubtedly paid off.
Micieli captures the mood of the opera scenes excellently. Each piece is interpreted with great sensitivity, and the pianist skillfully and effortlessly switches from one atmosphere to another. No matter how well thought out and prepared everything is, Micieli’s technically outstanding playing remains free and spontaneous, directly appealing and moving.
