Opera Australia has announced that the British stage director and singer Jo Davies, 52, will be its next Artistic Director from November 2023. Cardiff-born Jo Davies will the first woman to hold the role in the company’s 66-year history.
Davies has worked with such companies as the Royal Opera House, Houston Grand Opera, Washington National Opera, San Francisco Opera and the English National Opera, London’s Barbican, Le Chatelet in Paris, the Welsh Millennium Centre, the London Coliseum, the Royal Shakespeare Company, National Theatre Wales, and the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester.
