Nicolas Pasquet

The study offer of the Reina Sofía School of Music will expand from the 2024-2025 academic year with a new Chair in Orchestra Conducting, led by Nicolas Pasquet. This new Zubin Mehta will give way to an advanced Postgraduate Diploma. Jordi Frances and Miguel Angel Canamero have been appointed as associate professors.

Pasquet was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, where he studied violin and conducting. He later completed his studies at the Superior Music Academies in Stuttgart and Nuremberg, Germany. In 1987, he was awarded the First Prize at the 37th International Conducting Competition in Besançon, France. He was at the helm of various orchestras. In 1994, he was appointed Professor for Conducting at the Liszt University of Music in Weimar, Germany.
